When is the soccer season?

There are two soccer seasons – fall and spring.  The first game of the fall season is the weekend after Labor Day, and there are eight games (one every weekend).  The spring season begins the first Saturday in March and there are also eight games, every weekend except during spring break.

Boys and girls from age four can play, as well as highschoolers and adult women.  The “Under 6” league is co-ed and the remaining leagues are split into boys and girls.

U6 Co-ed: For the fall season, must be at least 4 years old and under 6 years old as of July 31 of the previous soccer year.   For the spring season, must be 4 years old as of Jan 1 of the current year. Must also be under 6 years old as of July 31 of the previous soccer year.
U8 Girls or Boys: Under 8 years old as of July 31 of the previous soccer year
U11 Girls or Boys: Under 11 years old as of July 31 of the previous soccer year

How do I sign up?

Registration begins typically four weeks before the first game of the season and takes place in the meeting room at the soccer field.  A registration notice with the dates and times is placed in the Paris News and on this website, and fliers are distributed at local schools.  New players will need to bring a birth certificate to register, and the cost per season is $45.  Late registrants are only accepted if players are needed to fill a team and there may be an additional charge.  If you need a new team jersey, you may be asked to pay for it at registration.

When and where do we play?

The games are played at the soccer fields on the west side of Collegiate Street, south of Clarksville Road, near the Love Civic Center.  Games are held on Saturdays and Sundays.  The U6 League plays on Saturdays only.   Games cancelled due to inclement weather will be made up in the two weeks following the originally scheduled game, and will likely be in the early evenings Monday through Friday.  The games last approximately an hour.  The practices are set by each team’s coach, and are typically one or two days per week.

What do I need to play?

Players will need cleated soccer shoes, shin guards, soccer socks that cover the shin guards when worn, shorts, and a team jersey.  The jerseys are purchased from Kings Sports and the other items can be purchased from Kings or one of the other sporting goods stores.  You might also purchase a soccer ball for practice at home.  Be sure to purchase the correct size ball for your league.  U6 and U8 use a size 3 ball.  U11 uses a size 4 ball.  U14 and older use a size 5 ball.  If you have any questions regarding what you need to purchase, please ask your coach or the league commissioner.  For the games, you will need water or a sports drink and may want snacks for halftime.  These are available at the concession stand.

What team will I be on?

If you’ve played before and you are not moving up to the next age group, you will remain on the same team as the previous season unless you request otherwise.  New players in each league are distributed among the teams during the draft, which occurs the week after registration ends.  You will then be contacted by your new coach.
